How did you hear about us?: Have three characters in-game
Character InformationName: Feliciano Vargas
Canon Origin/Series: Axis Powers Hetalia
School Year: 4th Year
Gender: Male
Age: 15 (Feli entered Hogswarts one year late due to depression, more details available in AU background)
Out of school living location: Sometimes Venice, sometimes Sicily, both are in Italy
Blood status: Pureblood
Personality:Where can I start with a country? I guess Feli's chief characteristic would be how big a coward he is in the face of the enemy. Hetalia drew upon stereotypes of the citizens of that particular country in order to create the personification, and apparently Italians were horrible at both wars, with a reputation of being very efficient at retreating from the enemy. As such, Feli himself is not that brave a person; he will cry, he will scream, and he will run away like the coward he is when faced with the enemy. Germany himself cannot understand how North Italy is so-so in training, but the mere threat of England sends him sprinting even faster than the (then) militaristic and super-fit Germany. Even in WW1, Germany met North Italy while the man was hiding in a tomato box from him. The man is simply a scaredy-cat, driven by his fear of being punished or hurt by others stronger than him.
Oddly enough though, North Italy is not as weak as he may seem. Hirumaya, the author of Hetalia, once said that Italy could be strong if given the right reasons. And as hard as it may seem to believe, he once chased away the Mighty Ottomon Empire as a smaller child with his Navy. Perhaps the Italians are better at sea warfare, but for tiny North Italy to take on Turkey at his strongest is still quite an achievement.
Which brings me to my next poing about Feli. Feli fought the Ottoman Empire because he wanted to protect Mr Austria, who was in effect, his captor. Feli is actually a very loving and caring individual, even to those who treat him horribly. Austria was a strict master, and he would often punish Feli if Feli made any mistakes, or tried to regain his independance in the early days. However, much much later when Spain fought Austria and tried to convince Feli to come with him, Feli instead chose to remain with Austria although he had often regarded Spain as an older brother. He could not abandon Austria at a point in his life when Austria was at his weakest. Another example would be with Germany. Although Germany has treated North Italy harshly at some points; eg. making him run lots of laps, gave him a job with really bad pay, and was once feared by Feli, Feli eventually grew fond and friendly with the Germanic Nation. Feli also shows concern for Germany and Japan. Once, when the two other Nations abstained from their favorite food, Feli tried to convince them that it wasn't too bad to eat what they liked, but only in moderation as it wasn't healthy to abstain in entirety from drinking beer or eating salted fish.
Lastly, Feli is a bit of a lady's man. He has been known to flirt with girls at any occasion. At a party where Germany first met Japan, Japan's first impression of Italy was the man who was flirting with all the ladies. When Germany, driven to desperation by Feli's carefree nation about his imprisonment, released the man just so he could get rid of him, Feli merely walked off, chatted and made friends with some ladies, before heading back to his cell. Feli is less seductive though, and more of the friendly and cheerful sort of flirting. Feli is very affectionate and treats women very well, something that's shared between him and his brother Lovino.
To sum North Italy up, he is like that cuddly, family-friendly dog who runs away at strangers, but who'll stay and guard you if he must.

Background (AU!Canon; HP): [
First word is Pooting.]
Feliciano is the youngest son of the Vargas family; he's got two older siblings, Lovino and Chiara Vargas, and a younger sister, Alicia Vargas. Feliciano was born with very strong magic potential; coupled with his looks and his love of art and pasta most people in the family thought he was going to grow up to be just like his grandfather, the head of the family and a widely respected wizard in Italy. However, while Feliciano definitely inherited his magical talents and likes from the man he lacked a lot of the ambitious drive that his grandfather had and from young he had already expressed his dislike of fighting as well as his natural cowardice. Still, he was deemed a much worthier successor than his older brother Lovino and as such he was given into the care of his grandfather in the hopes that the other man would be able to inspire the young Italian to excel in magic.
However, a tiff between the major European wizarding families resulted in an assassination attempt on his grandfather's life. Fearing for Feliciano's own safety his grandfather quickly sent him to live with a relatively neutral party who were still respected enough in the community; Feliciano soon found himself in Vienna, Austria, and placed under the care of Mr and Mrs Edelstein. The Austrian family were rather different from the lax and affectionate grandfather Feli had; Mrs Edelstein in particular was rather strict on rules and discipline. While she was not unkind and she did take great care of him, Feliciano found her to be a rather scary and intimidating women. Feli was also equally intimidated by her son, Roderich. Feli's earlier easy life; that of pasta and painting, was quickly replaced with a schedule for chores and lessons courtesy of Mrs Edelstein who believed that hard work was the key to success in life. Still the abrupt change in his life was rather difficult on the young Italian and Feliciano often tried to sneak away from his chores, only to be caught out and punished. His situation was nearly unbearable, and Mrs Edelstein herself was not particularly sure how to deal with Feli as he was so different from her own son.
However their saving grace came in the form of the family piano. Feliciano overheard Roderich practising it one day and soon found himself enraptured by the beautiful melodies. Mrs Edelstein quickly seized on the opportunity, promising him music class if he paid attention to his other lessons and chores. She drove a hard bargain but Feliciano agreed and with music by his side life suddenly started brightening up again. The Edelsteins also eventually softened their strict schedule for him once they noted how much more willing he was with his work, or rather, how much less he slacked off, and Mr Edelstein even showed him how to bake. It wasn't the same as Italian cuisine but Feliciano quickly showed his aptitude for the culinary arts. And while his own magical talents were blooming, Mrs Edelstein knew immediately that Feli was meant to thrive in the less combat orientated magics. Roderich encouraged Feli to continue with both his music and his art skills though he was less than pleased when Feli once doodled over his portrait.
Living with the Edelsteins also introduced Feliciano to Elizabeta, a frequent visitor to the Edelstein household. While the significance of the visits were lost on Feliciano he did enjoy Eliza's presence in the house; it meant that Roderich couldn't boss him around as much! Elizabeta stood up for him at some of his lowest times (Roderich could be rather unbearable) and as such she came to adopt the position of surrogate big sister to Feliciano.
Occasionally Feliciano would be given a chance to meet up with his brother Lovino when he was sent back to visit his family; the earlier meetings did not go so well. Feli never understood why his brother was so bitter and mean towards him. He also did not understand why, whenever he asked his parents, his older brother was always so late to the reunions. The servants always talked in hush whispers and Feliciano just didn't get it. The holiday visits often ended up Feli in tears and Lovi being scolded. However, as rocky as their relationship had started, both brothers came to love and care for each other. Lovino resettled back in Italy at the age of nine but Feli himself only returned after a year had passed and things were deemed safe enough. Still the family made sure to separate the brothers, afraid that Lovino would influence Feli in a bad way. Thus Lovino was brought up in Sicily while Feliciano grew up in Venice. Feli's easy-going and friendly nature won him many companions, but he always made sure that his fratello got first priority to his pasta whenever they were together. No exceptions.
When Lovino eventually received his letter to Hogwarts, things started getting messy for the family again and Feliciano was sent back to live with the Edelsteins. However by then Roderich had also gone to Hogwarts and Feliciano finally learned the meaning of the word solitude. His Austrian German always had a thick Italian accent and he found making friends difficult due to the cultural differences. However luck was on his side when another young ward came to stay with the Edelsteins. Feliciano liked the other young German boy and while the other sometimes acted rather aloof the Feli came to view him as a close friend and eventually as something more. Unfortunately before Feliciano could ever confess his crush the young boy went missing and was declared dead. Feliciano was the last one to see him alive and as such the big-hearted Italian came to blame himself. The trauma from the guilt was so bad that Feliciano's own entry into Hogwarts was delayed a year to give him time to recover. The kind Edelsteins did their best and Lovino, Roderich and Elizabeta sent letters, but while Feli eventually started smiling again he hasn't really gotten over the "death", not even in his fourth year of Hogwarts.
Feliciano's time at Hogwarts though was just what he needed to pick him up again. Reunited with his brother and sister as well as his foster siblings (he had come to look to Roderich and Elizabeta as such), Feliciano quickly settled into his new school life as best as he could. Which meant that most classes were spent sleeping, day-dreaming, doodling or imagining new ways of cooking pasta. Feliciano showed no aptitude for classes like Transfiguration and Defence against the Dark Arts as fighting really wasn't something he enjoyed. He would do well in Potions if he could concentrate long enough, but Feliciano has always had his head in the clouds and would rather create a new sauce than brew a potion. Charms and Herbology though are two subjects Feli excels in; he likes the cute animals in Care of Magical Creatures but hides behind others at the scary ones. He's also surprisingly a really good flyer; he is unafraid to zip around at dangerously high speeds, demonstrating really good control over his broom. Quidditch is out of the question though as he's got rather slippery butter fingers and is more likely to scream when a ball flies towards him than catch it. He's decent in Astronomy and Divination just because the former has pretty patterns in the sky for him to look at and the latter requires a healthy dose of creativity, but Ancient Runes is beyond him. As a rather social person, Feliciano was no stranger to making friends and flirting with the ladies, but he was easily frightened by bullies and generally keeps his head low when around them. He spent more of his free time engaging in his hobbies than doing his homework, which then lead to many panic last-minute sessions.
[
Last word is Dragon.]
How would your character fit in to each House? Gryffindor:Feliciano can be chivalrous...sometimes. Maybe. Once in a blue moon. But really, if there's anything Feli is known for in the series, it's his tendency to scream, bawl, panic and flee the moment something scary pops up. He is a horrible scaredy cat, and if anything he's good at running simply because he's so used to escaping from situations. So he's not brave, not a lot of nerves, and really he'd rather run away to live another day then stick around and fight. There's only been one mention of him actually standing his ground, and that's when he was a kid fighting to protect Austria and Hungary from the Ottoman Empire. But other than that, he's perfectly content to hide in a box pretending to be the tomato fairy than face his opponents.
Hufflepuff:The Badger might be a class that suits Feli, in the sense that he's loyal to his friends. However, hardworking is not a trait North Italy can claim to have. Feli would rather take a siesta, engage in artistic pursuits and hang out with his friends than do any real work. It takes his fear of Germany to actually motivate him to carry on with his training, otherwise he's perfectly content to throw in the towel and eat pasta. Feli's pretty tolerant...as long as his Italian pride isn't in the line. For example, he will never ever admit that English food is better than his, and this is probably when Feliciano's stubbornness will shine through. Feli is proud of his heritage from Rome, and certain things are just some things he won't ever budge from. He can do fair play, only so much as it's not too troublesome or too taxing for him on an issue that he thinks its important. Other than those matters, he's likely to take shortcuts. However, Feli is very loyal to his friends and may, on occasion, be willing to show a little of that Italian strength that he hides underneath his cowardice if they are sufficiently put in danger.
Ravenclaw:Surprisingly, Feliciano might be a good fit for Ravenclaw. Feli may be as dull as dirt, but what he lacks in wit he makes up for in healthy amounts of creativity. Feli can use whatever it is on hand to make works of art (he makes a sand sculpture of pasta when stranded on an island). He's also been noted to be a fantastic artist and chef, and some of his other talents include music and even car modifications, though the success of the later is debatable. However, in all honesty if Feli is interested in something he will definitely shine; he's intelligent when it comes to the arts and cooking, and he's definitely creative enough to work with whatever he has on hand. Feli also has an aptitude for learning; just that in canon, he learns all the wrong things from people. However, he has demonstrated a desire to know things, and he does pick them up eventually, even if he's horrible informed by the other party.
Slytherin:Feli isn't exactly what you call ambitious. He just wants to eat, sleep and have fun with his friends. But Feli does have his moments of sneakiness as he's wormed his way out of bad situations and training sessions after all. However, Feli isn't leader material; that's more of Germany's department. North Italy is perfectly content to be Germany's lackey. Feli's parents wanted him to be proud of being pure-blood and Italian; the former didn't really stick but the latter did. Feli can get defensive when people mock Italian cuisine. Also, prior to Hogwarts he never had much interaction with Muggles and Muggleborns; his parents tried to raise him to look down on them. Thankfully thanks to his experiences with the Edelsteins this didn't happen but Feli is somewhat naive in the ways of non-wizarding folks and he does laugh when Muggles and Muggleborns mix up common wizarding knowledge, but it's not malicious. He just thinks they're sometimes very silly and that's because they're not born with the right blood and that he's lucky he's a pureblood instead. Feli can also be resourceful, but that again ties back to whether it's about something he likes (food and the arts) and whether it has to do with running away. Anything other than that and he can be a bit blur and be more prone to panic than using his surroundings.

Hey everybody! My big brother started a club this year: it's the Food Appreciation Club! We're going to talk about food, cooking and nice places to eat! I guess that's kinda cool but it makes me hungry and miss Italy even more because British food is horribly bland and just taste bad, and the Italian food here isn't very nice either! The best kinda food is the ones from home, and no one can ever beat my
nonno grandpa's pasta.
Anyway I'll be making bruschetta so make sure you come by ok? The House Elves were really nice and gave me the ingredients but there's no brustolina grill so I had to use an Incendio charm. The first time it came out a little black but I think I've got the hang of it and it's real yummy so if you want something better than boring scones come to the meeting! My fratello is a really nice guy underneath that scary temper of his and once you get to know him I'm sure we'll all be good friends together.
